Bhutan becomes latest country to benefit from FIFA Foundation’s groundbreaking Digital Education Programme

Bhutanese schoolchildren will benefit from learning essential life skills, supported by computer science and robotics Joint initiative between the Ministry of Education and Skills Development of Bhutan, the Bhutan Football Federation and FIFA Foundation The programme is already underway in Belize, Mauritania and Paraguay  Children in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan will have greater opportunities to explore innovative ways of learning through hands-on activities using technology, programming, and robotics after it was announced that the FIFA Foundation’s Digital Education Programme will be launched in the country. Via an online ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Tshewang C Dorji, Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development of Bhutan; Ugyen Wangchuk, General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation; and the FIFA Foundation Executive Chairman, Mauricio Macri. “Football, technology and education are intrinsically connected and being able to harness the global appeal of football to help young people in Bhutan learn important skills that could one day help them pursue a career in this exciting field is a natural partnership for the FIFA Foundation,” said Mr Macri. “As we have already seen in South America, Central America and Africa, the Digital Education Programme not only attracts and motivates students to learn, but it also provides them with the tools and skills to thrive in the future. Today, we are delighted to launch in Asia and look forward to seeing the results over the coming years.” The Digital Education Programme is one of many ways in which the FIFA Foundation uses football to generate a positive social impact through football. Previously launched in Belize, Mauritania and Paraguay, the programme brings football and technology into classrooms, providing teachers with practical tools and hands-on activities to make everyday lessons more engaging and meaningful. Over the next three years, the groundbreaking programme will be rolled out in ever primary school across the country – more than 400 in total – and over 77,000 students will eventually benefit. This will be facilitated by leveraging the country’s existing digital infrastructure and strong national vision for digital education, supported by an investment from the World Football Remission Fund, which is under the auspices of the FIFA Foundation. The investment will focus on supplying robotics kits to all schools, providing teacher training and accompaniment, and supporting the three-year implementation across the country. The aim is to promote digital skills and foster computational thinking, creativity, collaborative work and problem-solving amongst pupils living in a vulnerable context.

Match Day 38

Battle of the Top: Paro FC and Transport UNited FC set for a headline showdown

The BoB Bhutan Premier League 2025 is set for one of its most anticipated encounters of the first leg at Woochu Sports Arena as Paro FC welcome Transport United FC in a blockbuster clash at the top of the table. Both sides are locked on 18 points, but it’s the Tigers of Paro who hold the advantage with a superior goal difference and a game in hand. With pride, bragging rights, and the top spot on the line, this fixture promises to deliver fireworks, much like Paro’s recent classic against Thimphu City FC, which was widely hailed as one of the best matches of the season so far. Paro FC have been in sensational form this campaign. The reigning champions remain the only unbeaten side in the league, having won all six of their games while scoring 19 goals and conceding just four. Their recent run of results underscores their dominance, including a thrilling 2-1 win over Thimphu City FC, a clinical 3-0 victory away at Ugyen Academy, and a commanding 4-0 demolition of Tsirang. Their attack has been sharp and ruthless, led by MD Rossoul Ba, who has netted five goals, and Timothy, who has four to his name. With their forwards in red-hot form, the Tigers are determined to maintain their perfect record and tighten their grip on the title race. Standing in their way are the formidable Grizzly Bears of Transport United FC, who have quietly built their momentum after a minor early slip-up. With six wins from seven games, they have showcased both resilience and hunger for the title. Key victories against Southern City FC (2-0), RTC FC (3-2), and Tsirang (4-0) highlight their attacking prowess. At the heart of their frontline is the lethal Oladipo A., who leads the league’s top scorer chart with six goals. He is ably supported by Foda Fofana and Jigdrel Wangchuk, both of whom found the net in their last outing against Southern City FC, making Transport United a potent threat in this critical encounter. Adding to the intrigue is their recent head-to-head history, which has been nothing short of dramatic. Last season, Transport United edged out Paro FC with a narrow 1-0 win on 2nd August 2024. Earlier that year, they shared the spoils in a 2-2 thriller. In December 2023, Transport United triumphed 2-1, while Paro FC claimed a 2-0 victory in September 2023. With both sides having tasted victory over each other, the stage is perfectly set for another fiercely contested battle. The stakes couldn’t be higher. While Paro FC look to defend their unbeaten streak and cement their dominance, Transport United FC will be eager to hand the Tigers their first defeat of the season and climb to the summit, despite having played an extra game. In the pre-match build-up, Paro FC’s head coach stated via the club’s official social media page that while he respects the history between the two clubs, he is determined to write a new chapter and is looking forward to his first-ever clash against Transport United FC. Midfielder Phurpa Wangchuk, who has stepped up brilliantly in the absence of captain Tomo, expressed that matches against Transport United are always tough, but he expects a good and competitive game. Meanwhile, Transport United’s Phuntsho Jigme confidently stated that their objective is clear: to take three points back home. The excitement has also reached fever pitch among the fans. Sangay Yoezer, a devoted Paro FC supporter, predicted a draw considering last season’s close contests and concerns over injuries in the Paro camp, which could see some squad rotations. Meanwhile, Sonam Choden, already present at Woochu Sports Arena before the teams’ arrival, believes the match could go either way but expects Paro FC to edge out their rivals, especially with the pace of Asante, who has already scored twice this season, set to trouble Transport United’s defence. On the other side, Tek Bdr. Ghally, a passionate Transport United fan, anticipates a low scoring game but remains confident that his team will take all three points and hand the Tigers their first defeat of the season. As the top-of-the-table clash draws near, fans can expect a thrilling evening with high-intensity action, tactical battles, and no shortage of drama. With star players on both sides in peak form and recent encounters providing plenty of excitement, this showdown promises to be one of the defining moments of the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2025. Will Paro FC roar on and continue their unbeaten march, or will the Grizzly Bears claw their way back to the top? One thing is certain—brace yourselves for an unforgettable clash at Woochu Sports Arena.

Mid-Table Clash

A crucial Mid-Table Clash

The BoB Bhutan Premier League heats up as Ugyen Academy FC prepares to welcome Southern City FC to the UA Artificial Turf. With both teams sitting level on points in the table, this fixture promises to be a closely contested affair with high stakes for both camps. Ugyen Academy FC comes into this game with renewed confidence after back-to-back wins, securing victories over Tensung FC (3-1) and Tsirang FC (1-0). These six points have reignited their campaign after a tough spell of three consecutive losses. The home side will be eager to keep their momentum alive and record their third straight win in front of their supporters. Southern City FC, however, are in search of redemption after suffering consecutive defeats to Thimphu City FC (0-3) and Transport United FC (0-2). With only one win in their last five matches, the Southern side will be desperate to bounce back and collect crucial away points to climb out of the lower half of the standings. Currently, both sides are tied on 7 points, with Ugyen Academy placed just above Southern City on goal difference. A win for either team could be a turning point, providing breathing space from the chasing pack and helping them inch closer to the top half of the table. This fixture also holds extra weight as both teams are fighting to avoid getting dragged into the lower half of the league. Ugyen Academy, known for its energetic young squad, will be banking on their home advantage. Meanwhile, Southern City FC will look to sharpen their attack and break their two-game goal drought. Just for the spices, they indeed faced each other once to date during the Pepsi Bhutan Premier League, 2025 at Changlimithang Stadium, whereby, Southern City FC lead by a different head coach came victorious with the scoreline 4:3. However, today is not that same qualifiers and both will fight for the win to claim three points. It’s all to play for at UA Artificial Turf. Will the hosts maintain their winning rhythm, or will Southern City FC turn their fortunes around?

BoB Bhutan Premier League, 2025

Clash of The Cities: Thimphu CIty FC vs Southern City FC

The BoB  Bhutan Premier League gears up for a historic showdown as two cities collide for the very first time between Thimphu City FC and Southern City FC in what promises to be a fiery fixture between the two sides. Thimphu City FC, currently 4th on the table with 12 points from six games, come into the clash with mixed recent form. After a strong start to the season that saw them register impressive wins over Ugyen Academy (2–1), RTC (1–0), and a commanding 7–0 demolition of Samtse FC, the Citizens have stumbled in their last two outings. A narrow 1–0 loss to Tensung FC was followed by a hard-fought 2–1 defeat at the hands of table-toppers Paro FC. Their recent dip might raise concerns, but there’s no denying Thimphu City’s attacking prowess scoring 14 goals and conceeding just 4  Southern City FC, on the other hand, sit in 6th place with 7 points from six matches. Their campaign has been steady but inconsistent, with wins over Samtse and Tensung, a goalless draw against Tsirang, and narrow defeats to top-half teams. While their defence has held firm at times, their attack has struggled to produce only four goals so far. This clash will be a true test of character for both sides. For Thimphu City, it’s about recovering momentum and staying in the title hunt. For Southern City, it’s an opportunity to make a statement and challenge the capital club in their backyard.

BoB Bhutan Premier LEague, 2025

RTC FC Host Fearless BFF Academy

Matchweek 7 of the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2025 kicks off with fireworks as RTC FC welcomes the fearless BFF Academy U19 to the RTC Artificial Turf. With only a single point separating the two sides, the stakes couldn’t be higher. This isn’t just a clash, it’s a direct shootout for a coveted spot in the top four. RTC FC come into this fixture with something to prove. After a heartbreaking 2–3 loss to title-challengers Transport United, the home side is hungry for redemption. Their attack remains one of the deadliest in the league, having already racked up 18 goals in just six games, including a 10–0 demolition of Samtse FC and a dominant 3–0 win over Tensung FC. The Tigers from RTC are wounded, but at home, they’re always dangerous, and tonight, they’ll be looking to roar back into form. But across the pitch stand the young guns of BFF Academy U19, who have quietly built a storm of their own. Fresh off a stunning 6–1 thrashing of Tensung and a gritty win over Southern City FC, the Academy boys are proving that youth is not a weakness but their weapon. With 15 goals already this season, they’ve shown flair, fight, and fearlessness. This is a squad that doesn’t care about history, pressure, or reputation. They’re here to win. And speaking of history, there’s a spicy subplot. All eyes will be on RTC’s newest attacking force, a former BFF Academy captain who scored more than a dozen goals for the club before making the switch. Now, he returns to face the very team that helped shape his rise. Will he break their hearts with a goal of his own, or will his former teammates rise to silence the traitor in their midst? The head-to-head record between these two sides tells us exactly what to expect: drama. In their last four encounters, both teams have shared wins, draws, and tightly fought duels. Their most recent meeting ended 1–1, and with so much on the line this time, expect every inch of the pitch to be contested with fire. This isn’t just a match. It’s a test of mentality, momentum, and ambition. Can RTC FC bounce back with the home crowd behind them, or will the fearless Academy boys continue their charge into the top tier of Bhutanese football? Buckle up. This one has all the ingredients of a classic.

Paro FC vs Thimphu City FC

Paro FC vs Thimphu City FC – The Rivalry Renewed

Brace yourselves for a matchweek masterpiece as Paro FC and Thimphu City FC go head-to-head in what many are calling the mega clash of Matchweek 6 in the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2025. This isn’t just another fixture; it’s a high-stakes encounter steeped in history, rivalry, and ambition. The battleground is none other than Changlimithang Stadium, where two of Bhutan’s biggest footballing giants will square off in a showdown that could tip the balance of this season’s title race. Paro FC, the defending champions and current table-toppers, enter this encounter unbeaten and brimming with confidence. Their attack has been ruthless, and with top scorer Rassoul Ba returning to the squad after suspension, they look even more dangerous. Defensively, they’ve been nearly impenetrable, and their midfield, soon to be boosted by newcomer Walid Said Abdeli, who is expected to make his debut, has been a perfect blend of composure and creativity. With a clinical frontline and a deep bench capable of changing the course of a match, the Tigers will aim to assert their dominance once again. A win on the night wouldn’t just extend their unbeaten run; it could very well cement their hold on the top spot with 6 points above Transport United FC. But don’t count out Thimphu City FC. For the Citizens, this match is all about redemption. After a gut-wrenching loss in their previous outing, they come into this game with urgency and determination. And what better way to bounce back than by taking down the league leaders? With experience running through every line, a seasoned skipper at the helm, and a tireless midfield engine, City is built for battles like this. Time and again, they’ve shown they can rise to the big occasion, and they’ll be fighting tooth and nail to prove it once more. From a tactical standpoint, this clash is poised to be a battle of minds between two experienced coaches. However, City head coach Shadab Iftikhar will not be on the touchline for this fixture, making this his first indirect encounter with Paro’s Spanish coach, Sugura Orial. Will it be a calculated midfield chess match or an all-out attacking spectacle? Either way, fans are in for a footballing feast. This match is about more than just three points; it’s about pride, legacy, and delivering a statement when it matters most. The rivalry between these two clubs has grown fierce in recent seasons, and history currently favours the reigning champions. In their last four league meetings, Paro FC has won twice, with the other two ending in draws. Memorable home victories for Paro, including 4–0 and 4–1 thrashings, still linger in the minds of both sets of fans. Their most recent encounter, in October 2024, ended in a thrilling 2–2 draw at Changlimithang Stadium, whereby the Japanese legend Honda scored in this fixture from the penalty. In those four fixtures, Paro has scored 13 goals to City’s 4, a statistic the Citizens will be desperate to rewrite. In terms of recent form, Paro FC is in red-hot shape. They’ve won five matches in a row, brushing aside Ugyen Academy, BFF Academy U19, Tsirang FC, Southern City, and Tensung FC, scoring 17 goals and conceding just 3. Their dominance has been unmatched, combining attacking fluidity with defensive discipline. Thimphu City FC, too, had been enjoying a strong run, beating Tsirang, Ugyen Academy, RTC, and handing Samtse FC a stunning 7–0 defeat. But their momentum was halted by a surprise 1–0 loss to Tensung FC, a result they’ll be eager to bounce back from. To add on, the ex-skipper of Thimphu City FC, Nima Wangdi, who joined Paro FC this season, will face his former club. This is a rivalry born of finals, shaped by heartbreaks, and fueled by ambition. The roar of the Tigers meets the pride of the Capital. Two powerhouses. One pitch. No second chances. So, who will prevail? Will Paro FC keep their perfect run alive and tighten their grip on the top? Or will Thimphu City FC rise from the ashes and reignite their title challenge?
