Technical Department
The Technical Department of the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) is the core driver of football development in Bhutan. It is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring all technical programs that aim to enhance the quality, structure, and sustainability of football across the country. Operating under the leadership of the Technical Director, the department focuses on building a comprehensive football ecosystem aligned with international standards set by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. The department works closely with clubs, academies, schools, and regional centers to ensure long-term player and coach development.
The Technical Department consists of the following key divisions:
- Coach EducationResponsible for the training, certification, and continuous professional development of coaches across all levels, ensuring quality coaching standards nationwide.
- Grassroots FootballFocuses on mass participation and early engagement, introducing football to young children and promoting the sport at the community and school levels.
- Elite Youth DevelopmentOversees the identification, training, and progression of talented youth players through structured pathways and national academies.
- Women’s FootballPromotes the growth and development of women’s football, including grassroots participation, elite competitions, and national team development.
- FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS)Implements FIFA-supported initiatives aimed at strengthening youth development structures, talent identification, and high performance training environments.
Overall, the Technical Department ensures a structured and integrated football ecosystem in Bhutan, linking grassroots to elite performance and contributing to the long-term success of national teams and domestic football.
