Thunderbolts Strike Twice to Seal First Win of the Season

Thimphu FC delivered a commanding performance to secure their first win of the season, defeating RTC FC 2–0 in an intense showdown at Changlimithang Stadium.

The match marked the first-ever meeting between the two sides, and it lived up to expectations with high intensity, physical battles, and moments of quality that kept fans engaged throughout.

 
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Thimphu FC found the decisive moment of the first half. A well-timed attacking move was finished with composure as Richard produced a clinical lob over the goalkeeper, guiding the ball into the far corner. The finish gave the home side a deserved lead heading into the break.

Despite RTC FC showing resilience and attempting to control spells of possession, they struggled to convert their chances in the final third, going into halftime trailing 1–0.
The second half saw RTC FC push forward in search of an equalizer, but Thimphu FC remained disciplined and dangerous on the counter.

The game grew more physical as tackles flew in and intensity increased.
RTC FC’s hopes were finally dashed in the 82nd minute when skipper Chencho Gyeltshen stepped up with a moment of brilliance. Known for his set-piece quality, he unleashed a stunning knuckleball free-kick that curled beyond the goalkeeper and into the far corner, sealing the result in style.

With goals in each half, Thimphu FC controlled key moments of the contest and showed defensive discipline to keep a clean sheet. RTC FC, despite flashes of promise, were unable to break through a well-organized back line.
