The course participants were evaluated based on a comprehensive assessment framework, including: • Written Examination • Practical Assessment • Attendance • Instructor Evaluation. Based on the final assessment and approval by the competent authority, the following candidates have successfully fulfilled the requirements and are hereby declared PASS. BFF Match Commissioner Course All successful candidates will be awarded the BFF Match Commissioner Certificate. Selected Participants who have not met the required criteria will be informed separately. The official handover ceremony was formalised through a signing between the school’s Principal and the General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, symbolising the transfer of responsibility and ownership of the futsal facility to the school. This newly established mini pitch is part of the global FIFA Arena Project, aimed at increasing access to football by providing safe and inclusive playing spaces for young people. The event was marked by great enthusiasm and joy, as students eagerly took to the pitch for friendly futsal matches, celebrating the arrival of the new facility. The mini pitch is expected to serve as a hub for football development, encouraging participation and nurturing young talent within the community. Anjana “Anju” Turambekar Appointed Technical Director & U-17 Head Coach We are delighted to announce the appointment of Anjana Turambekar as the Technical Director of the Girls Academy in Gelephu and Head Coach of the U-17 Women’s National Team. Hailing from Maharashtra, India, Anju is widely regarded as a trailblazer in Indian and Asian football. Her journey is a powerful story of resilience, self-belief, and determination, having overcome social and infrastructural challenges to rise to the top of the game. An AFC ‘A’ Licensed Coach and one of India’s youngest female coaches to achieve this milestone, Anju brings with her a wealth of experience across technical leadership, grassroots development, and elite youth football. Her impressive portfolio includes key roles such as: Head of Grassroots Development at the All India Football Federation Technical Head for the FIFA U-17 World Cup (MXIM Project) AFC Grassroots Panel & Technical Expert AFC Youth Panel Member and Technical Analyst International coaching experience in Singapore Anjana “Anju” Turambekar Appointed Technical Director & U-17 Head Coach Beyond her technical expertise, Anju is deeply committed to using football as a vehicle for social change. Through her work with the AT Foundation, she has empowered rural youth, especially girls, by integrating football with education and life skills. Joining alongside, Anju is Mario Leandro Silva, who takes on the role of Fitness Coach for the National Women’s Academy and Head Coach of the U-14 Women’s National Team. A Portuguese coach with a rich multicultural background, Mario’s football journey spans Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Portugal. Developed through elite European academy systems, he earned promotion to the senior team at just 17, competing against renowned clubs such as Sporting CP and AFC Ajax. Mario Leandro Silva Joins as Fitness Coach & U-14 Head Coach Mario began his coaching career in 2002 with Excelsior Virton, working with youth teams before progressing to senior teams in Luxembourg’s top divisions. Upon returning to Portugal, he founded a football club in Setúbal, earning recognition for his visionary approach to player development. Fluent in multiple languages and experienced across diverse football cultures, Mario brings a strong foundation in fitness, tactical awareness, and high-performance training environments. The addition of Anju and Mario represents a major boost to Bhutan’s growing women’s football program. Under the theme “Her Game, Her Future”, the celebration brought together young girls and communities from different regions of Bhutan, reinforcing the shared vision of promoting women’s football and encouraging greater participation in the sport. In Gelephu, the Girls Academy became a vibrant hub of creativity and competition. Participants engaged in meaningful poster presentations that reflected their love for football and the role of women in sport. The event also featured exciting activities such as the “Blindfold Shooting” challenge and a thrilling women’s friendly match, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere for everyone involved. Meanwhile, in Dagana District, girls from Daleythang Lower Secondary School celebrated the occasion through a series of lively and engaging activities. The event combined fun and movement with a Zumba session and interactive field games, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport. The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) successfully concluded its first-ever Match Commissioner Workshop, marking an important milestone in strengthening match governance and competition management in Bhutan. The three-day program aimed to build the capacity of aspiring match commissioners and enhance professional standards in football match operations. The workshop commenced with an opening ceremony graced by the General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, highlighting the federation’s commitment to improving operational excellence within domestic competitions. The first day began with an overview of BFF competitions presented by Kinley Dorji, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the federation’s competition structure and operational standards. This was followed by an engaging theory and interactive learning session facilitated by Mindu Dorji, FIFA/AFC Match Commissioner, who led the three-day workshop. Participants also took part in knowledge-sharing discussions, allowing them to exchange experiences, discuss practical challenges, and deepen their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of match commissioners. On the second day, participants began with a group review of the previous day’s sessions, reflecting on key learnings and clarifying important concepts. The morning continued with a series of presentations from federation officials. Tsewang Tashi, Chief Security and Integrity Officer, delivered a session on safety and security protocols. Nidup Gyeltshen presented on media and commercial operations, while Phurba Waiba conducted a session on the Competition Management System. The theory segment concluded with Yeshey Samdrup, who spoke on medical matters and match-day medical preparedness. Following the classroom sessions, participants were taken to Changlimithang Stadium for practical training exercises. The hands-on activities included flag hosting procedures, team marching protocols, logistics coordination, operational room observation, and ground markings, providing participants with valuable real-match operational scenarios. The facilitators later conducted a tutorial review session, offering feedback and further clarification based on observations from the field exercises. Reflecting on the importance of the role, Ugyen Wangchhuk, General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, stated:“Being a match commissioner is not easy, but with preparation, dedication, and professionalism, you can excel. Remember, you are the boss of every game, and your reports are crucial legal documents for the federation. Progress over time matters, and we depend on you to uphold the highest standards.” The final day featured a written examination for participants, along with a review of key sessions from the previous days. Participants also attended a presentation on how to effectively conduct a Match Coordination Meeting, an essential responsibility of match commissioners during competitions. The workshop concluded with the awarding of certificates to all participants, recognizing their successful completion of the training program and their commitment to enhancing professionalism and match operations under the Bhutan Football Federation. Through initiatives like this workshop, the Bhutan Football Federation continues to invest in capacity building and professional development to ensure the smooth organization and management of football competitions across the country.

Changjiji, Thimphu | 28 February 2026 The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) officially inaugurated the FIFA Arena Project 2026 ground at Loseling Middle Secondary School in Changjiji this morning, marking another important step in strengthening football infrastructure in Bhutan. The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, who attended as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were Lyonpo Yeezang De Thapa, FIFA Regional Director for Member Associations (Asia and Oceania) Sanjeevan C. Balasingam, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, officials from FIFA, the Bhutan Olympic Committee, as well as the principal, teachers, and students of Loseling Middle Secondary School. The program began with the traditional Marchang ceremony, a sacred Bhutanese offering performed to invoke blessings, remove obstacles, and ensure the success of significant milestones. The ceremony set an auspicious tone for the inauguration of the new facility. In his opening address, Dasho Ugen Tsechup, President of the Bhutan Football Federation, highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative. “In a mountainous nation like ours, where quality playing space is limited, these mini pitches will transform the future of football. We want to ensure that no child in Bhutan has to travel miles to find a proper ball and a safe field; we want football at the doorstep of every Bhutanese home. With the visionary support of FIFA and the blessings of His Royal Highness, it is our dream and mission to establish 100 mini pitches across every Dzongkhag and school in the country. The partnership marks an important step in strengthening private-sector collaboration in support of football development in Bhutan. The MoU was signed at a formal ceremony held at the BFF Headquarters in Babena, attended by the Managing Director of Tashi Beverages Ltd., Bhutan Coca-Cola, Mr. Tshenchok Thinley, and the General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, Mr. Ugyen Wangchhuk. The agreement outlines cooperation in supporting BFF competitions, events, and grassroots initiatives, while enhancing the match-day experience for players, officials, and supporters. Ugyen Academy Complete Historic Clean Sweep at BHSSC 2025–26 Nationals

The Pepsi Bhutan Higher Secondary School Championship 2025–26 (Nationals) concluded successfully with competitive matches across age categories, reaffirming the championship’s role as a key platform for school football development in Bhutan. At the conclusion of the Nationals, Ugyen Academy emerged as the most successful school of the tournament, completing a historic clean sweep by winning all four national titles- U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls. The U16 National Championships were conducted across two venues, with the U16 Boys competition hosted at Tsirang Artificial Turf and the U16 Girls matches played at UA Artificial Turf. The junior category showcased promising talent and improving tactical awareness among participating schools. In the U16 Girls final, Ugyen Academy secured a 1–0 victory over Norbugang Central School in a closely contested match. Both teams demonstrated strong defensive organisation, with Ugyen Academy capitalising on a decisive moment to claim the title and manage the game effectively until the final whistle. The U16 Boys final between Ugyen Academy and Peljorling Higher Secondary School ended in a goalless draw after regulation time. The championship was decided through a penalty shootout, where Ugyen Academy prevailed 4–3, displaying composure and resilience under pressure to lift the U16 Boys title. The conclusion of the U16 competitions highlighted the steady progress of school football at the junior level and set a positive tone for the senior age group championships. The focus then shifted to Changlimithang Stadium, Thimphu, where the U19 Boys and Girls National Level Championship brought together the top-performing schools from across the country. The tournament delivered high-intensity matches, emerging talents, and notable results, reflecting the growing competitiveness of school football in Bhutan. In the U19 Girls competition, Ugyen Academy maintained consistency and discipline throughout the tournament to claim the national title. Motithang Higher Secondary School finished as runners-up following a commendable campaign. The U19 Boys competition proved to be one of the most competitive editions in recent years. Ugyen Academy emerged as champions, while Gedu Higher Secondary School secured the runners-up position after an impressive run. One of the major highlights of the championship was Gedu HSS’s semifinal victory over two-time runners-up Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School, a result that marked a significant turning point in the tournament. Additionally, the league stage produced an unexpected outcome, with reigning champions Gelephu Higher Secondary School failing to register a win, underscoring the increasing depth and competitiveness of school football nationwide. Individual performances were recognised as part of the championship’s closing ceremony. Ugyen Lhamo of Ugyen Academy and Ngawang Sonam of Ugyen Academy were awarded the Top Goal Scorer honours in the U19 Girls and Boys categories, respectively. The Best Goalkeeper awards were presented to Jigme Choden of Rangjung Central School (U19 Girls) and Binod Ghalley of Gedu Higher Secondary School (U19 Boys). The Most Valuable Player awards were claimed by Pema Selden Dorji (U19 Girls) and Chimi Dorji (U19 Boys), both representing Ugyen Academy. The successful completion of the Pepsi Bhutan Higher Secondary School Championship 2025–26 (Nationals) reflects the continued collaboration between the Bhutan Football Federation, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, participating schools, match officials, volunteers, and the Local Organising Committee.
