Transport United FC Edge Thimphu FC in Tight Battle
Transport United FC earned a hard-fought victory over Thimphu FC in a tightly contested match that saw early brilliance, tactical adjustments, and late pressure defining the outcome.

The Grizzly Bears struck the only goal of the game in the first half through Taye Daniel, who rose well to meet Abayomi’s pinpoint free-kick and powered a header beyond Tenzin, giving Transport United FC a crucial advantage.

Thimphu FC responded with intent, dominating possession for large spells and pushing high up the pitch in search of an equaliser. However, despite their control in midfield, they struggled to break down a well-organised Transport United defensive line.
Thimphu FC made changes in the 60th minute, bringing on Suraj Rasaili for Sonam Jugdrul Chozang and Siddarth Gurung for Dawa Tshering, aiming to inject more energy and creativity. Further changes followed in the 70th minute, with Pramijay Gachhadar replacing Tenzin Dorji as they continued to chase the game.

Transport United FC also rotated their squad, introducing Dechen Jigdrel for Kinley Dorji in the 83rd minute to reinforce their structure and manage the closing stages.
The match grew more intense as time wore on, with Transport United FC picking up bookings in a heated final phase. Sangay Chophel was shown a yellow card in the 73rd minute, followed by Martins Ayodele Damilola in the 82nd minute.
Despite the pressure, the Grizzly Bears stayed compact and looked to kill the game on the counter. They continued to freshen up late, bringing on Ngawang Norbu for Bishal Tamang in the 84th minute and Neraj Chhetri for match-winner Taye Daniel Badaru in the 88th minute.
Deep into stoppage time (90+9’), Thimphu FC made a final push, introducing Eche Prince John for Palden Tshering, but Transport United FC held firm to see out the result.

Transport United FC’s early strike ultimately proved decisive, as disciplined defending and smart game management allowed them to withstand sustained pressure and secure all three points, while Thimphu FC were left to reflect on missed opportunities despite strong possession spells.
