The Gelephu Football Academy, located in Gelephu is the home of the Women’s National Team. It was established in 2015. The Academy has a full-sided Astro turf constructed under the FIFA Forward initiative. In addition, the Academy also has a mini-pitch (Astro-turf) and a full-sided natural pitch. In 2022, the Federation installed a gym at the Academy.
Currently, the Academy accommodates fifty-nine (59) players. We have three age groups namely, U14, U15 and U18. We provide the players with a well-balanced diet based on the research conducted by our Medical Department. During the day, the players attend classes at various schools which are close to the Academy. In addition, the Academy provides tutors to help the players with their academics.
The Academy has set out some core values to guide the players as they grow and develop on and off the field as an athlete and an individual. The core values are best represented in the acronym RRAC.
Academy Mission Statement:
The Gelephu Football Academy will serve as a training centre for our girls who will represent the country at various international stages in youth and senior competitions. The Academy will develop players through consistent and quality coaching in a safe environment.
Academy Objective:
The main purpose of the Academy is to help grow and develop women’s football through regular coaching and training sessions from an early age and to also help build one’s character. As such, it is the responsibility of the Academy Staff to cater to the Players to help them grow and develop both technically and as an individual. Thus, the administrative and the technical staff work together to meet and fulfil the purpose of the Academy. The Players’ well-being and growth should be at the heart of our interests.
Respect
Respect – is at the heart of maintaining good team chemistry. The players must respect their teammates, coaches and the supporting staff at the Academy both on and off the field. Respect will aid in creating a safe space, and building trust and well-being. It must first begin with

Responsibility – will help build determination, passion and the desire to become a better player. Responsibility is to be reliable, thus, opening themselves up to take on any challenges. It will teach leadership.
Accountability
Accountability – will teach players to honour their promises and commitment. It will teach them to own up to their mistakes, to learn and grow. It will help them become an efficient player.
Communication
Communication – staff must treat players and colleagues with respect regardless of their rank or job status of if in disagreement with them. Staff must voice their opinions clear and concisely. The staff will listen well and understand the situation instead of reacting fast and making rash decisions.
