The SAFF U17 Championship 2024 concluded at Changlimithang Stadium, Bhutan, with India crowned champions after an impressive 2-0 victory over Bangladesh in the final. The tournament, which began on September 20, featured seven teams split into two groups. Group A consisted of Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B included India, Bangladesh, and Maldives.
In the group stage, Nepal and Pakistan advanced from Group A, and India and Bangladesh progressed from Group B. The semifinals saw India overcome Nepal with a commanding 4-2 win, while Bangladesh edged past Pakistan in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in regular time.
The final was a display of India’s dominance, securing the championship with two well-taken goals. Bhutan, despite not advancing past the group stage, was honored with the Fair Play Award for their discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, reflecting their positive spirit and commitment to fair play.
