“Paro Football Club” wins the Top Sustainability Award for the year 2022-2023, While “Thimphu City Football Club” wins the Top Waste Management Club and Top Advocacy Club for the year 2022-2023 and are the runner-up of the Top Sustainability Award for the year 2022-2023. The Tigers were awarded the Top Sustainability Club Award for the years 2022–2023. Paro FC has put utmost dedication into fulfilling all three identified SDGS schemes: 1) Climate Change 2) waste management; and 3) sustainable cities and communities. They have fulfilled and topped all three schemes. The prestigious award highlights Paro FC’s outstanding commitment to sustainability within the football community. “Everything revolves around the environment; this is not something big. We initiated it right from the start when Paro FC was established. So for us, it’s nothing new. For us, it’s like day-to-day work, and we are able to do it.” Karma Jigme, the President of Paro FC. On the other hand, the citizens were the runner-up for the Sustainability Project and were recognized as the Top Waste Management Club and Top Advocacy Club. The club has focused more on waste management and sustainable cities and communities. “I worked in the royal society for the protection of nature, where my part of the job was creating public awareness so, it comes from there that I feel creating awareness is much better than doing physical hint up” Hishey Tshering, the President of Thimphu City FC. Top Sustainability Club Of the Year 2022 – 2023 Top Waste Management Club and Top Advocacy Club of the year 2022-2023 A total of 18 clubs implementing club licensing participated in this project. The clubs were assessed based on three SDG schemes, of which the club that fulfilled all three schemes was recognized as the TOP SUSTAINABILITY CLUB. The club sustainability project was implemented last year under the club licensing program. As an expression of appreciation to the two clubs, the Bhutan Football Federation awarded a cheque of Nu. 20,000, a certificate recognized as the top sustainable club to Paro FC, and training equipment worth Nu. 40,000 to Paro FC.Thimphu City FC was awarded a cheque of Nu. 10,000, a certificate recognizing Thimphu City FC as the top waste management and best advocating club for the year 2022-2023, and training equipment worth Nu. 20,000. The Bhutan Football Federation would like to congratulate Paro FC and Thimphu City FC for their well-deserved honor. Paro FC, Thimphu City FC, and Ugyen Academy FC were awarded the AFC club licenses for the competition year 2023. A total of six clubs were registered for AFC Club Licensing; however, only the mentioned clubs managed to get the license. For the National Club Licensing, a total of 17 clubs registered for the license; however, only four clubs( Thimphu Women’s FC, Ugyen Academy WFC, Thimphu Raven FC, and Namlha FC) who fulfilled the Club Licensing criteria were awarded the license.
