Bhutan Celebrates AFC Women’s Football Day 2026 Across the Country

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the AFC Women’s Football Day 2026 was successfully marked across Bhutan on 8 March 2026, highlighting the passion, strength, and determination of women and girls who continue to inspire the growth of the beautiful game in the country.

Under the theme “Her Game, Her Future”, the celebration brought together young girls and communities from different regions of Bhutan, reinforcing the shared vision of promoting women’s football and encouraging greater participation in the sport.

In Gelephu, the Girls Academy became a vibrant hub of creativity and competition. Participants engaged in meaningful poster presentations that reflected their love for football and the role of women in sport. The event also featured exciting activities such as the “Blindfold Shooting” challenge and a thrilling women’s friendly match, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere for everyone involved.

Meanwhile, in Dagana District, girls from Daleythang Lower Secondary School celebrated the occasion through a series of lively and engaging activities. The event combined fun and movement with a Zumba session and interactive field games, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport.

The celebration extended to Bumthang District, where young girls gathered at the Bumthang Public Ground to showcase their skills and passion for football. The gathering highlighted how the love for the game unites communities across Bhutan, from the lowlands to the highlands.
