Rinzin’s Strike Earns a Point as BFF Academy and Drukpa FC Share the Spoils
BFF Academy and Drukpa FC played out an entertaining draw in the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2026 at Changlimithang Stadium, with both teams earning a point after a thrilling contest.
Both sides entered the match looking to regain momentum after a challenging run in the first round. Having started the campaign strongly, BFF Academy and Drukpa FC had experienced a dip in form in recent matches and were eager to return to winning ways.
BFF Academy started the match brightly and found the breakthrough in the 18th minute through Thinley Yezer. A defensive clearance from Drukpa FC fell into his path, and the forward showed great composure to control the ball, cut inside, and unleash a powerful strike that found the far corner.
However, Drukpa FC responded immediately. Just three minutes later, captain Kencho Tobgay restored parity with a composed finish. Sangay’s lofted through ball from midfield released the skipper, who timed his run perfectly, controlled the ball, and calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper to make it 1–1.
The visitors came out strongly after the restart and completed the turnaround moments into the second half. Fahad Temuri scored his first goal of the season, firing a left-footed effort into the net to give Drukpa FC a 2–1 lead.
BFF Academy refused to back down and continued searching for an equaliser. Their persistence was rewarded when captain Rinzin Dorji stepped up in the second half to bring his team level. Receiving the ball on the left, Rinzin drove forward, showcased his skill with quick footwork to beat his marker, cut inside, and fired a powerful effort that took a deflection off the sliding Jigme before finding the top corner.
With the score level, both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages. The final minutes saw an intense battle as both sides searched for a decisive moment, but neither could find the breakthrough despite four minutes of added time.
The final whistle confirmed a hard-fought draw, with BFF Academy and Drukpa FC sharing the points after an entertaining encounter filled with attacking moments and quality finishes.
With this draw both the team concluded their 1st round of the BoB Bhutan Premier League, 2026 and will be focusing on the second round. As of the first round, BFF Academy are in 7th place while Drukpa FC are in 8th.
