Thimphu City FC Fight Back to Defeat Tsirang FC in Thrilling Comeback

Thimphu City FC came from behind to claim a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tsirang FC at Changlimithang Stadium, extending their impressive run of form with a determined second-half comeback.

 

 

The match began at a lively pace, and despite both sides creating opportunities, it was Tsirang FC who struck first in the 25th minute. Stephen Stallin produced a moment of pure quality, controlling the ball brilliantly before unleashing a powerful strike beyond the goalkeeper to give his side the lead. It was a finish worthy of the Goal of the Day.

 

The Citizens responded positively after the break and eventually found their way back into the contest. A perfectly weighted through ball from the captain caused confusion in the Tsirang defence, with the ball striking the woodwork before crossing the line to restore parity.

 

 

Buoyed by the equaliser, Thimphu City FC dominated the second half, constantly testing the Tsirang defence. Goalkeeper Antonio Dylan kept his side in the contest with a series of outstanding saves, including a sensational stop to deny Jetsuen’s fierce volley, earning him the Save of the Day.

 

 

The decisive moment arrived in the 83rd minute. Debutant Dominic Elijah Douglas made an immediate impact with a brilliant pass to Orgyen who then played a key role in creating the opening with a delightful delivery into the box. Sadick Sulley was perfectly positioned to apply the finishing touch and complete the comeback, sealing all three points for the Citizens. The build-up and finish combined to earn the Magic Moment of the Day.

 

Tsirang FC pushed for a late equaliser, but Thimphu City FC remained composed and saw out the closing stages to secure a valuable victory.
The comeback victory keeps the Citizens firmly at the top of the BoB Bhutan Premier League standings with a game in hand for Paro FC, while Tsirang FC will be left wondering what might have been after leading for much of the contest.
