Thimphu City FC Complete Derby Double with Victory Over Thimphu FC

Thimphu City FC continued their strong run in the Thimphu Derby, securing a 2-0 victory over city rivals Thimphu FC in the return leg of the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2026.

The Citizens delivered a composed performance at Changlimithang Stadium, with goals from Barkromjon and Dawa Tshering ensuring another three points and completing a derby double over the Thunderbolts this season.

After a closely contested opening period, Thimphu City FC found the breakthrough in the 28th minute. A well-executed long ball from Jonathan caught the defence off guard, allowing Barkromjon to break the offside trap, control the delivery, and fire towards goal. Despite Pramijay getting a touch on the effort, the ball found the back of the net to give the Citizens the lead.
The Citizens carried their advantage into the second half and continued to apply pressure as they searched for a second goal. Their persistence paid off in the 76th minute when Dawa Tshering doubled the lead with a composed finish.

A long goal kick from Tshering Dendup created an opportunity as the Thimphu FC defence struggled to deal with the ball. Dawa reacted quickly, seized the chance, and made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
The Thunderbolts pushed forward in search of a comeback, but the Citizens remained organised defensively to secure a clean sheet and claim all three points.

The victory sees Thimphu City FC complete two wins over their city rivals, following their earlier 3-0 triumph in the first meeting between the two sides.

The result adds another memorable chapter to one of Bhutan football’s most anticipated rivalries, while both teams continue their campaign in the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2026.
