Thimphu City Women's Hold On to Edge Transport United Ladies 3–2
Thimphu City WFC survived a dramatic second-half comeback from Transport United Ladies to secure a thrilling 3–2 victory in a five-goal derby clash in the BoB Women’s National League 2026.
City came flying out of the blocks, scoring three times inside the opening 20 minutes to establish a commanding lead before Transport United launched a spirited fightback after the break. Head Coach Laxmi had promised an aggressive start during her pre-match press conference, saying her side would look to strike early and dictate the tempo. Her players delivered almost immediately.
Just three minutes into the match, Pema Choden Tshering capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire Thimphu City into an early 1–0 lead. City doubled their advantage only two minutes later. In the 5th minute, Pichayatida Manowang found space in the final third and calmly finished to make it 2–0.
The early onslaught continued, and in the 19th minute, Holalib broke through the Transport United backline before slotting home City’s third. She celebrated the goal with a graceful dance near the corner flag as the City supporters erupted. Despite trailing 3–0 at halftime, Transport United returned from the break with renewed intensity and a disciplined high press.
Their persistence was rewarded when Gita Rana produced a clinical finish to pull one goal back.
Transport United continued to push forward, and Anita KC soon found the back of the net to reduce the deficit to 3–2, setting up a tense final stretch. With momentum firmly on their side, Transport United threw players forward in search of an equalizer. However, Thimphu City’s defense stood firm under relentless pressure to preserve the victory until the final whistle.
Pichayatida Manowang was named Woman of the Match following her goal and influential midfield performance, having played a key role in City’s dominant first-half display.
The victory keeps Thimphu City WFC among the leading sides in the BoB Women’s National League, while Transport United Ladies can take plenty of positives from their spirited second-half comeback.
