The opening match will see defending champions RTC Women’s FC take on Paro Women’s FC at Changlimithang Stadium at 2:00 PM, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting and competitive season.

Looking back at last season, RTC Women’s FC emerged as champions, showcasing consistency and strong performances throughout the campaign. Alongside them, Paro Women’s FC, Thimphu City Women, Transport United Ladies, and Ugyen Academy Women’s FC all continued to prove themselves as strong contenders, maintaining a high standard of football across the league.

Last year also marked an important milestone for Bhutanese women’s football, with Transport United Ladies representing Bhutan in the SAFF Women’s Club Championship for the first time. Their participation reflected the growing strength and recognition of the Women’s National League beyond the country.

As the 2026 season begins, the competition is expected to be even more intense. With new teams entering the league, there is a fresh sense of energy and unpredictability. These teams will be eager to challenge established sides, making every match competitive from the very beginning.

Among the exciting developments, Gelephu Girls Academy has already started turning heads. Despite being a young team, they have shown determination and fighting spirit, giving tough competition to more experienced sides and proving that the future of women’s football in Bhutan is bright.

The centralized opening phase, where all teams compete at one venue, is expected to create a vibrant football atmosphere. With matches coming in quick succession, teams will need to stay consistent, manage their squads effectively, and deliver strong performances right from the start.

The BoB Women’s National League continues to grow in quality and importance, providing players with greater opportunities to develop and compete at the highest level.

As the season begins, the 2026 campaign promises passion, competition, and new stories waiting to unfold, all beginning on May 2.
