Changlimithang Derby: Thimphu City Dominates After Tight First Half Against Transport United
Thimphu City FC produced a commanding second-half performance to secure a convincing win over Transport United FC at Changlimithang Stadium, in a derby that was closely contested in the opening period before swinging firmly in favour of the Citizens after the break.

The first half was evenly balanced, with both sides matching each other in intensity and organisation. Transport United FC showed discipline and energy in midfield, while Thimphu City FC looked sharp in possession, creating half-chances without breaking the deadlock early on. However, the moment of difference arrived in the 26th minute when captain Orgyen Wangchuk Tshering finished a well-constructed move involving Bikash Pradhan, giving Thimphu City the lead and ultimately setting the tone for the match.

Discipline was also a key feature of the opening half, with referee Phurpa Wangchuk issuing three yellow cards. Jignam Seltob was booked in the 14th minute for a tackle on Abayomi, while Bikash Pradhan received a caution in first-half stoppage time (45+1’). Tenzin Jamtsho was also shown a yellow card in the 78th minute for Transport United FC.
The second half saw Thimphu City take full control of proceedings. Transport United FC made an early change in the 56th minute, introducing Kamal Uron for Kinley Dorji in an attempt to strengthen their midfield presence. However, the momentum quickly shifted further in favour of the Citizens.
Just a minute later, in the 57th minute, Sadick Sulley doubled the lead after a well-orchestrated move involving Bakhromjon Turgunpulatov. In the same phase of play, Thimphu City introduced Karma Shedrup Tshering for Bakhromjon, with the substitute immediately adding energy and attacking threat.

Transport United FC also handed a debut to Tenzin Dorji, who replaced Tikendra Singh Thapa in the 81st minute, offering fresh legs as they searched for a response. However, Thimphu City continued to manage the game with control and composure.
Further substitutions followed in the closing stages as both teams rotated their squads:
Ngawang Norbu replaced Dechen Jigdrel (74’) for Transport United FC
Tshetrim Pelzang came on for Dawa Tshering (78’) for Thimphu City FC
Tandin Namgay replaced Jigme Singye (88’) for Transport United FC
Khenrab Rigzin Wangdi came on for Kinzang Tashi Tobden (90+1’) for Thimphu City FC
Sangay Chophel replaced Jonathan Eduardo Cantillana Zorrilla (90+1’) for Thimphu City FC
Dipen Rana came on for Orgyen Wangchuk Tshering (90+1’) for Thimphu City FC

Despite Transport United’s efforts and squad rotations, Thimphu City maintained control throughout the second half, dictating the tempo and limiting their opponents’ attacking opportunities. Their structured play and clinical finishing proved decisive once again in the derby.
Transport United FC, meanwhile, will take encouragement from a competitive first-half display and the introduction of new players and debutants, as they continue to build depth and experience within the squad.

A tale of two halves at Changlimithang but ultimately, it was Thimphu City FC who delivered the sharper and more decisive performance when it mattered most.
