Tensung FC Surprises BFF Academy at MTC Ground

In a surprising turn of events, the unbeaten streak of BFF Academy FC came crashing down as they suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Tensung FC at MTC ground. The highly anticipated match, which had fans on the edge of their seats, ended with a scoreline that left spectators and analysts alike in awe. Right from the kickoff, it was clear that both teams were eager to assert their dominance on the field. BFF Academy FC, known for their impeccable teamwork and strategic play, tried to control the midfield and create opportunities in the attacking third. Tensung FC, on the other hand, exhibited a resilient defence and showcased its prowess in swift counter-attacks. A way to celebrate your first goal of the season As the game unfolded, Tensung FC managed to capitalize on a momentary lapse in BFF Academy FC’s defence. Pelden Wangchuk got a lucky rebound in the 14th minute and slotted the ball into the back of the net. The fans erupted with cheers from the Tensung FC supporters, while the BFF Academy FC team looked on in disbelief.  Despite the setback, BFF Academy FC didn’t lose their composure. They intensified their offensive efforts, creating numerous scoring opportunities. However, Tensung FC’s defence stood firm, with their goalkeeper making spectacular saves to deny BFF Academy FC’s attempts to level the score. The pressure continued to mount as the clock ticked down, but BFF Academy FC couldn’t break through Tensung FC’s resolute defence. Meanwhile, BFF Academy conceded their second through Pelden Wangchuk in the 27th minute. BFF Academy made four changes instantly and was in disbelief at the scoreline. However, they pulled one back in the additional minutes of the first half with a towering header from their defender, “Kinley Penjor,” after connecting with the cross from Pema Zangpo. Tensung FC led the opening half with a scoreline of 2-1. The second half intensified the drama as BFF Academy pressed higher up the pitch, determined to level the playing field. However, Tensung FC’s goalkeeper emerged as a formidable wall, thwarting every attempt with remarkable saves. In the 74th minute, Tensung FC capitalized on a quick transition, catching BFF Academy’s defence off guard and firing home the final goal of the match with a clinical strike from Sonam Tshering. The setback seemed to ignite a fire within BFF Academy, as they responded with renewed vigour. With hope rekindled, BFF Academy surged forward in search of an equalizer, leaving spaces at the back that Tensung FC cleverly exploited.  As the referee blew the final whistle, Tensung FC celebrated a well-deserved triumph in their first home match of the season, inflicting BFF Academy FC’s first defeat.

The Final Match Of Match Week One Ended in a Thrilling Draw

In a thrilling encounter in the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2023, Druk Lhayul FC and BFF Academy played out an intense and showed tremendous determination and skill throughout the ninety minutes only to end in a draw, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. BFF Academy displayed early attacking intent, creating several chances and testing the opposition’s defence. In the ninth minute, Jigme Namgyel was brought down inside the penalty area by Jigme Phuntsho. Initially, the referee told the players to continue the game but after consulting with VAR, they were awarded a penalty and Jigme Phuntsho was shown a yellow card for his reckless challenge. The captain of BFF Academy, Pema Zangpo stood up to take the penalty against the goalkeeper of Druk Lhyul FC, who is also the national goalkeeper of Bhutan Senior National team. Pema Zangpo triggered a powerful shot on the left bottom corner in which Tshering Dendup drove the right way but his shot was too much for him to stop,  which put the BFF Academy in the lead. However, Druk Lhayul FC refused to be daunted and fought back with a ferocity of their own. They tried to keep the ball in possession their relentless pressure finally paid off when their left winger, Sonam Jordan took a long shot putting the ball behind,  equalizing the score. Meanwhile, in the additional minute of the first half, Pema Zangpo nearly put BFF Academy up front when his far attempt hit the woodwork. The opening half ended with the goal levelled. Druk Lhayul FC players celebrates as they scored the first goal of the season. BFF Academy took a lead through their Captain The second half witnessed end-to-end action, with both teams refusing to back down. Druk Lhayul FC managed to take the lead in the more through a blistering counter-attack from the left flank, catching the opposition defence off-guard. Lekpai Dorji collected the ball from Khando Dorji and triggered a beautiful shot from 40 yards which hit the net of the top left corner. But BFF Academy responded almost immediately in the 80th minute from Kinley Penjor. As the clock ticked down, the intensity of the match reached its peak, and both teams came close to finding a winner. Jigme Phuntsho was once again caught in the defence line of Druk Lhayul FC as he made another reckless challenge on Kinzang Tenzin and was shown a second yellow card for him, which led him to walk down the tunnel early. BFF Academy came close in finding the winner taking advantage of the one-man-down Druk Lhayul FC but Tshering Dendup saved a few of the shots which was a hard-fought battle that ended with a shared point. Currently, Transport United FC leads the points table on goal difference with Paro FC, Thimphu City and Tensung FC. Druk Lhayul FC and BFF Academy are levels on point at 5th and 6th respectively and the rest of the clubs are yet to earn a point.

SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST WORKSHOP

Football is the most popular sport worldwide, captivating millions of fans and players alike. The passion of supporters is a symbol of unity and excitement, but amidst the fervor and intensity of the sport, it’s crucial to acknowledge the potential risk associated with it. One such risk is cardiac arrest, a sudden and life-threatening condition that demands immediate attention. NO ONE GOES TO A FOOTBALL MATCH EXPECTING TO DIE. With this recognition and its importance, the Bhutan Football Federation medical department has come up with an education and awareness program by conducting theory and practical classes for players, coaches, and referees about cardiac arrest and its signs. Encouraging individuals to learn basic CPR and the use of an AED immediately, which can improve survival rates by a high percentage. By taking proactive measures, the soccer community can significantly reduce the risk of cardiac events and provide a safer environment for players to showcase their skills, passion, and love for the game. With this recognition and its importance, the Bhutan Football Federation medical department has come up with an education and awareness program by conducting theory and practical classes for players, coaches, and referees about cardiac arrest and its signs.

The Pepsi Bhutan Premier League Qualifiers, 2023 started today at RTC Ground. The first match of the qualifiers was played between Tensung FC and Namlha FC. Tensung FC led through Kelzang Dorji in the opening half, but Namlha FC pulled one back from the set piece by the forward, “Zakali Leonce Dodoz” in the second half. Although Tensung FC were much more comfortable with the ball, Namlha FC were good enough to hold the score line at 1 – 1 till the final whistle. The man of the match, Samten Norbu of Namlha FC stated that it was their first match together and we couldn’t cope much in the opening half, but in the second half, we were much more organized and pulled one goal back, and we are happy to take a point because Tensung FC are not a team that we should underestimate. The second match of the day was played between Thimphu Raven FC and BFF Academy. The match ended in a draw after each team scored in the opening half. The opening goal of the game came from a penalty kick from the skipper of BFF Academy after the forward, Karan Uron was brought down by the defender of Thimphu Raven FC. The skipper, Pema Zangpo hit a decent low kick, which the goalkeeper of Thimphu Raven FC drove the right way but was unable to stop. Their lead was short lived when the goal of Thimphu Raven FC came from a long range effort from the midfielder, “Khenrab Rigzin Wangdi” after the half-hour mark. Tomorrow, Samtse FC is going to face Phuentsholing City FC at 2 p.m. at RTC Ground.

Spelling Bee Competition

To instil the holistic growth and uphold the spirit of competition The Spelling Bee Competition was conducted on the 15th of October. The students and staff gathered at the conference hall at 8.45 a.m. Everyone was beautifully welcomed to the program and the program started by introducing members of four teams. Each team was inclusive of four members from different levels. They were briefed on the rules of the four rounds. After each round, a surprise entry was also arranged. Of the three surprises, one recited a poem and another a dialogue of prince of Morocco followed by a dialogue of Charlie Chaplain. Not only the participants but also the spectators actively took part in the program. Group number three took away the first position, group number two as the first runner-up and followed by group number four as the second runner-up. The prizes were distributed by Principal and he even shared the importance of taking part in literary activities. Subsequently, the position holders of the mid-term examination were handed the certificates. It was a mode to encourage and appreciate the perseverance shown by the students and also to propel them to perform better the next time.

EVENT OBJECTIVES: To inculcate knowledge of Basic Bhutanese etiquette. A session on fundamental Bhutanese etiquette was organized on 1st October 2022, by the Department of Dzongkha. The event’s main speaker was lopen Drakpa. The event was bifurcated into two sessions. The first session was theory-based and followed by a practical session. The speaker narrated a brief anecdote on the significance of the assimilation of merits. He further provided a reason for one’s emphasis on the process to achieve merit. Lopen shared a simplest yet profound way to achieve merit. The need to shower love and respect on one’s parents. After the theory session, lopen along with the principal and teachers demonstrated the rudimentary use of kabney. The students were also taught how to sit, eat, talk and walk. The session concluded by evaluating the learners’ accumulation of the lesson.

Financial Literacy Workshop For Students

In the school setting, there isn’t much discussion of financial literacy. Given its significance, we were able to organize a session today,advocating the students on financial literacy in collaboration with Organization For Youth Empowerment, a Bhutanese NGO. Officials from the OYE and the Royal Securities Exchange of Bhutan graced the occasion. The primary topics of discussion were basic money management, savings schemes, and insurance policies. The students learned about some of the backup financial plans as well as the life skills needed for financial security through comprehending budgeting, investing, insurance, loans, and interest rates. The discussion also emphasized on the importance of financial literacy, which includes a variety of skills. However, the most focused topics were budgeting, expense management, debt repayment, and understanding the risk-reward trade-off in investment products. To acquire these skills, one must first understand basic financial concepts such as time value of money, compound interest, annualized return, and opportunity cost. The program concluded with a brief advice to the students from the chairperson of OYE on the financial literacy.

Earthquake Mock Drill 

EVENT OBJECTIVES: to examine the emergency preparedness plan and standard operating procedure during the earthquake. EVENT DESCRIPTION: A mock drill was held to raise awareness and to teach the necessary steps to take if anything unexpected happens on campus. The earthquake was the main focus of the drill. The students were briefed and advised on the precautions they should take in the event of an earthquake. In the event that all of the teachers and students participated, the respective coordinators, such as the search and rescue team, medical team, transportation team, and attendance recorder, took the lead in their respective responsibilities. The principal provided a brief summary of the event’s aftermath and ended the program.
