Paro FC Finish First Round on a High with Five-Star Display Against Thimphu FC

Paro FC signed off the first round of the BoB Bhutan Premier League 2026 in spectacular fashion, producing a dominant attacking display to defeat Thimphu FC 5-1 at Changlimithang Stadium.

The final fixture of the first round carried added significance for both sides, with Thimphu FC looking to continue their impressive rise in the league while Paro FC aimed to maintain their strong momentum and finish the opening phase of the campaign on a high.

Before the match got underway, a one-minute silence was observed at Changlimithang Stadium in memory of the late Coach Ngawang Dendup. A respected figure in Bhutanese football, Coach Ngawang Dendup dedicated his life to the development of the game, first as a player and later as a coach, inspiring generations of footballers and leaving behind a lasting legacy.

Once the match began, Thimphu FC looked determined to make a strong start, creating early opportunities and putting pressure on the Paro FC defence with Chizoba hitting the post in the early minutes of the game. However, despite the Thunderbolts’ bright opening, it was the Tigers who found the breakthrough.

In the 32nd minute, Sidiki Jawara produced a moment of brilliance, unleashing a powerful strike from distance. Thimphu FC goalkeeper Tenzin Wangchuk managed to get a hand to the effort, but the sheer power behind the shot was enough to carry the ball over the line, giving Paro FC the lead.

The Tigers quickly built on their advantage. Just a minute later, Yuta doubled the lead with a composed finish after being brilliantly set up by Nima Wangdi. The clinical nature of Paro FC’s attack continued to trouble the home side, and before Thimphu FC could recover, the visitors struck again.

In the 36th minute, Yuta completed his brace with a simple tap-in after Abdoulie Baldeh delivered a dangerous low cross from the right. The quick three-goal burst put Paro FC firmly in control as they headed into the break with a commanding advantage.

Despite the deficit, Thimphu FC came out with renewed determination in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts. In the 55th minute, the Thunderbolts pulled one back through Stephen Abeiku, who reacted quickest to finish from the rebound after Siddarth’s initial effort was saved.

The goal gave the home side renewed belief, but Paro FC’s experience and composure helped them weather the pressure. The Tigers continued to create chances and eventually restored their three-goal cushion through an unfortunate moment for Thimphu FC.
In the 77th minute, Kinga Wangchuk’s cross from the left caused confusion inside the box, and a misclearance from Udoka saw the ball end up in his own net with goalkeeper Tenzin already committed off his line.

With the match already beyond doubt, Paro FC continued to push forward, and they added a fifth goal deep into stoppage time. A perfectly weighted lofted pass from Richard found Abdoulie Baldeh, who calmly finished to complete a memorable evening for the Tigers.

The final whistle confirmed a convincing 5-1 victory for Paro FC, a result that underlined their attacking quality and consistency throughout the first round. With goals coming from different areas of the pitch and a strong team performance, the Tigers head into the second round with confidence and momentum.

With this Paro FC are at the top of the table while Thimphu FC are in 5th position.
For Thimphu FC, the defeat brings an end to their first-round campaign, but their performances throughout the opening stage have shown they can compete among the top sides in the league.
