Bhutan Football Federation Signs Landmark Partnership with Hummel in Gelephu
Gelephu, Bhutan – The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) marked a historic milestone with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hummel, in a special ceremony held at the Gold Fish Resort in Gelephu.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including His Eminence Laytshog Lopen Sangay Dorji, His Excellency Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Mr Christian Stadil, the Honorary Council of Bhutan in Denmark, President of the Bhutan Football Federation, Dasho Ugen Tshechup, Executive Committee members, officials, and guests.
This partnership represents a major step forward in the development of football in Bhutan, strengthening international collaboration while aligning shared values between Bhutan and Hummel.
In his address, Dasho Ugen Tshechup emphasised the deeper meaning behind the collaboration:
“We realised how much Hummel and Bhutan as a nation share the same ideology of using sport to bring the globe together. It is not only the quality of your products that excites us, but the ideology that you represent. We hope that we can play a small role in materialising your vision of making this globe a better place through sport.”
Echoing these sentiments, Christian Stadil described the partnership as a purpose-driven journey rooted in shared philosophy:
“This partnership is not only about providing some cool kits, but it is also about supporting a journey, or rather, an adventure. At Hummel, we believe that sport is not only about performance, but it is also about purpose, community, identity, and making a difference.”
Highlighting the unique alignment with Bhutan’s values, he added:
“We feel deeply connected to Bhutan’s philosophy, where progress is measured not by sudden steps, but by steady commitment and belief. Bhutanese football is a story of perseverance. What stands out is not the ranking, but the resilience.”
The ceremony also featured a video presentation by Hummel, followed by the unveiling of the new Bhutan national team jersey. The kit was presented by national team stars Chencho Gyeltshen and Pema Zangpo, alongside rising academy talent Tshendru Tshering Pelzom. The jerseys were blessed by His Eminence Laytshog Lopen Sangay Dorji, symbolising a new era of pride and identity for Bhutanese football.
The formal signing of the MoU was carried out by Christian Stadil and BFF General Secretary Ugyen Wangchhuk, officially cementing the partnership.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Mr. Stadil remarked:
“Today, we begin a new journey together, one guided by purpose, patience, and spirit. We are very proud to join Bhutan’s football adventure and to help bring its story to the world.”
The partnership includes a three-year agreement featuring bespoke national team kits, FIFA-approved equipment, and plans to expand Bhutanese football’s global presence through international markets and fan engagement.
The ceremony concluded with a token of appreciation presented to Mr. Stadil, marking the beginning of what promises to be a meaningful and long-lasting collaboration.
This partnership between Hummel and the Bhutan Football Federation is expected to play a transformative role in advancing football in Bhutan, empowering players, inspiring communities, and showcasing Bhutan’s unique football journey on the global stage.
