Thimphu City FC, currently 4th on the table with 12 points from six games, come into the clash with mixed recent form. After a strong start to the season that saw them register impressive wins over Ugyen Academy (2–1), RTC (1–0), and a commanding 7–0 demolition of Samtse FC, the Citizens have stumbled in their last two outings. A narrow 1–0 loss to Tensung FC was followed by a hard-fought 2–1 defeat at the hands of table-toppers Paro FC.

Their campaign has been steady but inconsistent, with wins over Samtse and Tensung, a goalless draw against Tsirang, and narrow defeats to top-half teams. While their defence has held firm at times, their attack has struggled to produce only four goals so far.
