The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) is pleased to announce the results of the BFF Match Commissioner Course conducted from 4th to 6th March 2026. The course participants were evaluated based on a comprehensive assessment framework, including: • Written Examination • Practical Assessment • Attendance • Instructor Evaluation. Based on the final assessment and approval by the competent authority, the following candidates have successfully fulfilled the requirements and are hereby declared PASS. BFF Match Commissioner Course All successful candidates will be awarded the BFF Match Commissioner Certificate. Selected Participants who have not met the required criteria will be informed separately. Any participant wishing to seek clarification regarding their results may submit a written request to the BFF Competition Department within three (3) working days from the date of this announcement.

The Bhutan Football Federation marked another significant milestone with the successful handover of a FIFA Arena Project 2026 mini pitch at Tendruk Central School on 20 March 2026. The official handover ceremony was formalised through a signing between the school’s Principal and the General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, symbolising the transfer of responsibility and ownership of the futsal facility to the school. This newly established mini pitch is part of the global FIFA Arena Project, aimed at increasing access to football by providing safe and inclusive playing spaces for young people. The event was marked by great enthusiasm and joy, as students eagerly took to the pitch for friendly futsal matches, celebrating the arrival of the new facility. The mini pitch is expected to serve as a hub for football development, encouraging participation and nurturing young talent within the community. This initiative reflects the Bhutan Football Federation’s continued commitment to grassroots development and its vision of making football accessible to every corner of the country. By investing in such infrastructure, the Federation aims to inspire the next generation of players and further strengthen the foundation of football in Bhutan.

Appointment of Technical and Coaching Personnel for Women’s Football Development

The Bhutan Football Federation is proud to welcome two accomplished international professionals who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of women’s football in the Kingdom. Anjana “Anju” Turambekar Appointed Technical Director & U-17 Head Coach We are delighted to announce the appointment of Anjana Turambekar as the Technical Director of the Girls Academy in Gelephu and Head Coach of the U-17 Women’s National Team. Hailing from Maharashtra, India, Anju is widely regarded as a trailblazer in Indian and Asian football. Her journey is a powerful story of resilience, self-belief, and determination, having overcome social and infrastructural challenges to rise to the top of the game. An AFC ‘A’ Licensed Coach and one of India’s youngest female coaches to achieve this milestone, Anju brings with her a wealth of experience across technical leadership, grassroots development, and elite youth football. Her impressive portfolio includes key roles such as: Head of Grassroots Development at the All India Football Federation Technical Head for the FIFA U-17 World Cup (MXIM Project) AFC Grassroots Panel & Technical Expert AFC Youth Panel Member and Technical Analyst International coaching experience in Singapore Anjana “Anju” Turambekar Appointed Technical Director & U-17 Head Coach Beyond her technical expertise, Anju is deeply committed to using football as a vehicle for social change. Through her work with the AT Foundation, she has empowered rural youth, especially girls, by integrating football with education and life skills. Her appointment marks a significant step forward in developing the next generation of Bhutan’s “Dragon Girls,” both on and off the pitch. Joining alongside, Anju is Mario Leandro Silva, who takes on the role of Fitness Coach for the National Women’s Academy and Head Coach of the U-14 Women’s National Team. A Portuguese coach with a rich multicultural background, Mario’s football journey spans Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Portugal. Developed through elite European academy systems, he earned promotion to the senior team at just 17, competing against renowned clubs such as Sporting CP and AFC Ajax. Mario Leandro Silva Joins as Fitness Coach & U-14 Head Coach Mario began his coaching career in 2002 with Excelsior Virton, working with youth teams before progressing to senior teams in Luxembourg’s top divisions. Upon returning to Portugal, he founded a football club in Setúbal, earning recognition for his visionary approach to player development. Fluent in multiple languages and experienced across diverse football cultures, Mario brings a strong foundation in fitness, tactical awareness, and high-performance training environments. The addition of Anju and Mario represents a major boost to Bhutan’s growing women’s football program. Their combined expertise in youth development, high-performance coaching, and grassroots empowerment will be instrumental in nurturing the next generation of talent. As Bhutan continues to invest in women’s football, their leadership is set to inspire, develop, and elevate the future stars of our beloved Dragon Girls.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the AFC Women’s Football Day 2026 was successfully marked across Bhutan on 8 March 2026, highlighting the passion, strength, and determination of women and girls who continue to inspire the growth of the beautiful game in the country. Under the theme “Her Game, Her Future”, the celebration brought together young girls and communities from different regions of Bhutan, reinforcing the shared vision of promoting women’s football and encouraging greater participation in the sport. In Gelephu, the Girls Academy became a vibrant hub of creativity and competition. Participants engaged in meaningful poster presentations that reflected their love for football and the role of women in sport. The event also featured exciting activities such as the “Blindfold Shooting” challenge and a thrilling women’s friendly match, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere for everyone involved. Meanwhile, in Dagana District, girls from Daleythang Lower Secondary School celebrated the occasion through a series of lively and engaging activities. The event combined fun and movement with a Zumba session and interactive field games, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport. The celebration extended to Bumthang District, where young girls gathered at the Bumthang Public Ground to showcase their skills and passion for football. The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) successfully concluded its first-ever Match Commissioner Workshop, marking an important milestone in strengthening match governance and competition management in Bhutan. The three-day program aimed to build the capacity of aspiring match commissioners and enhance professional standards in football match operations. The workshop commenced with an opening ceremony graced by the General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, highlighting the federation’s commitment to improving operational excellence within domestic competitions. The first day began with an overview of BFF competitions presented by Kinley Dorji, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the federation’s competition structure and operational standards. This was followed by an engaging theory and interactive learning session facilitated by Mindu Dorji, FIFA/AFC Match Commissioner, who led the three-day workshop. Participants also took part in knowledge-sharing discussions, allowing them to exchange experiences, discuss practical challenges, and deepen their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of match commissioners. On the second day, participants began with a group review of the previous day’s sessions, reflecting on key learnings and clarifying important concepts. The morning continued with a series of presentations from federation officials. Tsewang Tashi, Chief Security and Integrity Officer, delivered a session on safety and security protocols. Nidup Gyeltshen presented on media and commercial operations, while Phurba Waiba conducted a session on the Competition Management System. The theory segment concluded with Yeshey Samdrup, who spoke on medical matters and match-day medical preparedness. Following the classroom sessions, participants were taken to Changlimithang Stadium for practical training exercises. The hands-on activities included flag hosting procedures, team marching protocols, logistics coordination, operational room observation, and ground markings, providing participants with valuable real-match operational scenarios. The facilitators later conducted a tutorial review session, offering feedback and further clarification based on observations from the field exercises. Reflecting on the importance of the role, Ugyen Wangchhuk, General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, stated:“Being a match commissioner is not easy, but with preparation, dedication, and professionalism, you can excel. Remember, you are the boss of every game, and your reports are crucial legal documents for the federation. Progress over time matters, and we depend on you to uphold the highest standards.” The final day featured a written examination for participants, along with a review of key sessions from the previous days. Participants also attended a presentation on how to effectively conduct a Match Coordination Meeting, an essential responsibility of match commissioners during competitions. The workshop concluded with the awarding of certificates to all participants, recognizing their successful completion of the training program and their commitment to enhancing professionalism and match operations under the Bhutan Football Federation. Through initiatives like this workshop, the Bhutan Football Federation continues to invest in capacity building and professional development to ensure the smooth organization and management of football competitions across the country.
