The MoU signifies a shared commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two football associations, focusing on technical cooperation, capacity building, youth development, and mutual support in football administration.Dasho Ugen Tsechup stated, “This partnership marks a new chapter in our relationship with Thailand, not just in football but in strengthening people-to-people ties through the power of sport. We are honored to celebrate this MoU in conjunction with the visit of His Majesty the King of Thailand to Bhutan.”The signing of this MoU underscores both federations’ dedication to the growth and development of football at all levels and sets the stage for future joint initiatives and exchanges.

The 2025 BoB Bhutan Women’s National League is shaping up to be unlike any other season before. Reigning champions RTC WFC have kicked off their campaign with a series of friendlies, setting the tone early. Meanwhile, the 2022 champions, “Paro WFC” are making a grand return to the league after a two-year hiatus—adding a whole new level of competition. Their comeback is even more exciting as they’ve bolstered their squad by signing star players from Bangladesh. Preparations are in full swing across all clubs. Thimphu City WFC are making their presence felt, while Transport United Ladies are reportedly close to signing Nepalese stars to strengthen their squad. On the other hand, The Royal Academy WFC and Ugyen Academy WFC have yet to make any foreign signings, staying focused on developing local talent. Gelephu Academy Girls are committed to nurturing their academy players, while Gelephu City Girls, Samtse WFC and Phuentsholing WFC are eyeing reinforcements from neighboring India. With just two weeks to go until kickoff, the excitement is building. A new season, new stories, and a renewed dream—Bhutanese women’s football is ready to shine.

The AFC Refereeing Star Program

The AFC Refereeing Star Program, which commenced on 31st March 2025, concluded successfully on 3rd April 2025. This prestigious program is designed to provide comprehensive training, education, and exposure to promising young referees across Asia. It aims to enhance their technical abilities, improve decision-making, and deepen their understanding of the game. Participants are also offered opportunities to officiate in AFC competitions and receive mentorship from experienced and elite referees. The program ultimately seeks to raise the overall standard of refereeing in Asia, ensuring referees are equipped to manage high-pressure international fixtures with competence and professionalism—an essential step for the continued growth and integrity of football in the region. The Instructor for the program from the AFC included: Hirokazu Abe (Head of Referees Department, AFC – Japan) Suresh Srinivasan (AFC Instructor) Etsuko Fukano (FIFA/AFC Technical Instructor) Chan Shing Kin Mike (AFC Fitness Instructor) A total of 29 participants, supported by 6 local instructors, took part in this program, including 7 female referees, reflecting AFC’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in refereeing.
